10 Days Rwanda-Uganda: Gorilla and Big Game Wildlife Safari

Day 01 : Departure to Parc National de Volcans [Approximately 2hours drive]
Welcome to the Land of the Majestic Gorillas! On arrival at the airport, you will be warmly received by the guide; meet and greet, receive briefing and then transfer northwest wards to Ruhengeri taking-in the beautiful view of the countryside characterized by rolling hills, not missing out on the en-route stops for Kodak experiences and lunch. Continue to the park and check-in at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be.
Accommodation: Sabinyo Silverback lodge (luxury)/ Mountain Gorilla View lodge (midrange)/ Kinigi Guesthouse (basic). Meal Arrangement: Half Board [HB].
Day 02 :The Gorilla Experience-trekking in the misty Virunga
After an early breakfast, transfer early enough to the park headquarters at Kinigi before 0700hours. Remember to carry with you your passports and tracking permit, proceed for a briefing session from the ranger guides about this activity, and later start off the majestic experience. Reasonable level of fitness is required due to the challenging terrain and the duration tracking can last; you carry your lunch boxes on this activity since tracking can last through the day depending on which group you will track and the movements of these Apes as they can be residing in the higher slopes of these misty ranges. This is an interesting challenge that gives you chance to see your eyes open on the rolling mountain forest ecosystem. Once you find the Gorillas, an hour will be given to you in their presence, after you retreat to the starting point and head back to the lodge.

Day 03 : Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi [Approximately 3hours drive]
Begin with a hearty breakfast at the lodge, checkout later and embark on a drive out of Rwanda to Lake Bunyonyi located in southwestern Uganda. On arrival to this region, you head straight to the lodge, check-in here and after lunch, you will go for an afternoon session of a breathtaking canoe ride on the idyllic Lake Bunyonyi known for its striking beauty surrounded by gorgeous terraced hills of Kigezi. You will explore some of its 29Islands, te lake is known for its impressive number of little birds hence the name Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 04 :Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park [Approximately 5hours]  
Have a hearty breakfast at the lodge and later leave northwards for Queen Elizabeth. Enjoy the beautiful drive through the alluring plains of southwestern Uganda characterized by the backdrop of scenery of highlands and rolling forests; continue to the park arriving through the southern sector the Ishasha known for its resident tree climbing lions. Lookout for these predators lying in tree branches stalking their prey or down in the grassland planning their hunt. Head to the lodge later, it’s here you will retire for your night and dinner.

Day 05 : Game drive and launch cruise
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast,proceed for a morning game drive as the sun rises over the pleasant savannas of the park. Drive through enjoying the sights of the Kasenyi as the game roams the plains spotting Uganda Kobs leap playfully through the grasses, Warthogs bent on their knees feeding on the fresh grass, African Elephants and Buffalos take their bath in water holes before taking their way for their breakfast, these are opportune moments to see elusive Lions plan their morning hunt. After lunch, take an afternoon launch trip that presents you opportune moments to a jewelry of savanna game along the shores drinking and cooling off from the burning sun.

Day 06 : Explore the Mweya peninsular and Transfer to Kibale [Approximately 3hours drive]
After an early breakfast, head for an early game viewing session exploring the Mweya Peninsula an area jam-packed with birds and animals. Its elevated position commands gorgeous views of the Kazinga channel and surrounding savannas, lookout for more wildlife. Later leave the park for Kibale Forest National Park regarded as the Primate Capital of the World.

Day 07 : Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk
Proceed to Kanyanchu after breakfast and prepare for tracking the human’s in the wild. The ranger guide will take you through the briefing before you enter the forest, enjoy the forest ecology and diversity as you track these resident Chimpanzees, you will spot other primates like the Vervets, L’Hoest Monkeys, Black and White Colobus, Pottos and many others; once you find the chimps, and hour will be allowed to in their presence, retreat later and head to the lodge. In the late afternoon, you go for a nature walk to see more primates, birds and swamp dwelling mammals like the Sitatunga around the Bigodi Sanctuary- a wildlife corridor to the park. Retire at the lodge.

Day 08 : Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park [Approximately 6hours drive]
Have an early breakfast, embark on an early drive northwards to Murchison Falls via Hoima and Masindi dotted with beautiful villages, you have a lunch break en-route and later continue on the drive to the park. Head to the top of the falls for the best safari Kodak moments. Drive through the park heading to the northern bank, this will reward you with sights of the game roaming the golden savanna plains. Proceed to the lodge and check-in, its here you have dinner and overnight.

Day 09 : Launch trip and evening game drive
Have a hearty breakfast at the lodge and head to Paraa, the center of all tourism activities; from here, you will set in for a stunning launch cruise along the Nile upstream to the bottom of the magnificent falls. This is an opportune moment to spot a variety of wildlife including reptiles like Nile Crocodiles, Hippopotamus as well as other mammals along the banks, position yourself for the best safari Kodak moments on this voyage. In the afternoon you will go for a savanna game drive through the northern circuit crammed with wildlife such as Jackson’s Hartebeests, African Elephant, Buffalos, Uganda Kobs and many others. Retire for the night at your accommodation.
